The PMI-ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner) certification is a professional certification for individuals who demonstrate expertise in Agile practices and principles. It is offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
The PMI-ACP certification is ideal for project managers, Agile practitioners, Scrum Masters, team members, and anyone involved in Agile projects seeking to enhance their knowledge and credentials in Agile methodologies.
Candidates need to have a secondary degree, 21 contact hours of training in Agile practices, 12 months of general project experience within the last 5 years, and 8 months of Agile project experience within the last 3 years.
You can apply for the PMI-ACP exam through the PMI website. The application involves submitting proof of your education, project experience, and Agile training hours.
The exam covers various Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, Lean, extreme programming (XP), and test-driven development (TDD), focusing on Agile principles, tools, techniques, and practices.
Preparation involves studying the Agile Practice Guide and other relevant PMI resources, attending Agile training courses, participating in study groups, and taking practice exams.
The exam consists of 120 multiple-choice questions to be completed within 3 hours. It covers seven domains: Agile Principles and Mindset, Value-driven Delivery, Stakeholder Engagement, Team Performance, Adaptive Planning, Problem Detection and Resolution, and Continuous Improvement.
The exam fee for PMI members is typically lower than for non-members. As of the latest update, the fee is approximately $435 for PMI members and $495 for non-members.
To maintain the certification, you need to earn 30 Professional Development Units (PDUs) in Agile topics every three years.
